Important Announcement: Dissolution of the PKU Association of NSW Inc.

Dear Past and Present Members,

It is with a heavy heart that we share with you today a decision that the committee has made after much deliberation. The PKU Association of NSW Inc. has made the difficult choice to dissolve its operations.

Over the years, our association has been a beacon of support, advocacy, and friendship for individuals and families affected by Phenylketonuria (PKU). We have strived to make a positive impact in the lives of those dealing with this condition, offering resources, information, and a supportive community.

However, as circumstances change and challenges arise, it has become increasingly clear that continuing our operations as an independent entity is no longer viable. This decision was not made lightly, but it is one that we believe is in the best interest of all involved.

Though we may be dissolving the association, our commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by PKU remains unwavering. Considering this, we strongly encourage all our past and present members to look to the MDDA (Metabolic Dietary Disorders Association) for guidance, assistance, and continued support.

The MDDA is a respected organisation dedicated to providing invaluable resources and support to individuals and families affected by a range of metabolic disorders, including PKU. They offer a wealth of knowledge, support services, and community connections that can help navigate the challenges associated with managing PKU.

We are confident that by turning to the MDDA, you will find the support and assistance you need to continue your journey with PKU. While our association may be closing its doors, the spirit of community and support that defined us will live on through organisations like the MDDA.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to all our past and present members for your unwavering support, dedication, and contributions to the PKU Association of NSW Inc. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve alongside every one of you.

Thank you for your understanding, your support, and your continued commitment to the PKU community.

With heartfelt regards,

Andrew McDonald

President – The PKU Association of NSW Inc.

I was born in December 1958 - a healthy baby but as time went by I was a little slower reaching my milestones, retreating to a world of my own. During my first two years of life mum took me to the GP constantly trying to find our what was going on with me.
