Adults & Teens
One of the Association's goals is to actively re-establish contact with adults who have PKU and do not attend the Adult Metabolic Clinic.
We put the call out to all individuals with PKU to:

- Learn about the many new products available to choose from
- Subscribe to the PKU Association of NSW newsletter for updates on research and management tips
- Log on to this website regularly.
Get involved- Become a member of the Association - having as little or as much involvement as you choose
- Come along to Association events to meet others with PKU
- Build a brighter future by helping with fundraising initiatives
- Consider filling a role within the association, or at our National PKU Youth Camp

Letter from Dr Michel Tchan Re: AdultGenetic Metabolic Disorders ServiceYou might have heard that there is a newly established service for adults with inborn errors of metabolism based at Westmead Hospital. Our service received funding from NSW Health in order to provide health care to all the adults in NSW with one of these disorders. This also includes all the patients who will “graduate” from the children’s hospitals in the years to come. We are a small team that includes a clinical geneticist (myself) who trained under Professors Wilcken and Christodoulou, a dietician, a genetic counsellor and a registrar (doctor in the final years of advanced training).
We currently look after more than a hundred adults with PKU and would welcome seeing anyone else in the community who might have“dropped off the radar”. We would particularly like to see the younger women who might be thinking of having a family of their own some day. Patients can contact the department on 98459780 and speak to one of our team. We could then see them in our regular Thursday morning clinic at Westmead hospital. We also hold a monthly clinic at Prince of Wales hospital and clinics at Newcastle three to five times a year.
